Title: Miss Mechanic Pdf
Two mechanics. One rivalry.
She’ll prove she’s as good as she says she is.
He’ll prove her place isn’t under the hood.
It’s over it.

“Don’t let the bastards get you down.”
For twenty-six years, I lived by my daddy’s motto. Which is why “Mechanic Wanted” is all it takes for me to apply for the job at the garage we once owned.
And I meet the biggest bastard of them all.
Dexter Ryne. Hotter than Hell in July and a firm believer that my place is on reception, taking phone calls and looking pretty. Not getting dirty under the hood of a car.
Determined to prove each other wrong, we make a deal.
I have three weeks to prove my worth as a mechanic. If I don’t, I’m on telephone duty.
If I do, he’ll accept defeat and make my job permanent.
Now, all I have to do is fight my attraction to the cocky little… beep.
Problem is, an engine isn’t the only thing he knows how to make purr…

(MISS MECHANIC is a brand new, standalone romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart.)

Bratty Annoying Leading Lady While I was excited about the idea of this story and parts of it were cute, the comedy sometimes went a little over board and wasn’t that funny. My review contains some opinions that might be considered spoilerish so continue at your own risk.Dex and Jamie had a love hate relationship that just kept going and going and going. They acted like twelve year olds and their constant bickering got old and felt repetitive. Under normal circumstances Dex would have fired Jamie after her first smarta$$ comment since he was the boss and she was technically on a trial period. Additionally, Jamie constantly talks about wanting to be taken seriously as a female mechanic, yet she wears booty shorts, yoga pants and on one occasion a skirt to work, which she admits to herself she did to get Dex’s attention. She then gets annoyed at Dex for checking her out. Personally I’ve never been to a garage where the mechanics wore shorts or yoga pants - male or female. On top of all this, Jamie complains to anyone who will listen about how horribly Dex treats her. However, she was the main instigator of their arguments and she always made a negative comment no matter what Dex did or said. She had a huge chip on her shoulder when they met being a woman mechanic in a man’s world, and Jamie continued to take out her frustration on Dex.Honestly, I just felt sorry for Dex. In addition to being nagged and lectured from Jamie, his Aunt Greta, his niece Charley and his sister Roxy, who by the way takes annoying and juvenile to a whole new level, join in and take shots at him too. Poor Dex, the guy didn’t stand a chance. I realize brothers and sisters oftentimes bicker, but Roxy was crude and bratty to Dex every single time they were in a scene together. It was overkill and I’m not sure who was worse, Roxy or Jamie.Surprisingly, I began to enjoy the story a little more once Dex and Jamie finally acted on their attraction. It made their constant bickering easier to tolerate. In the end, this just wasn’t a favorite of mine and I felt it took me forever to read it. But as with all books, what I may not like, another reader may love.enemy to lovers story #MISSMECHANIC MISS MECHANIC by Emma Hart is a fun, witty, sexy, steam filled romance read that will keep you smiling even after the book is over. It is a total GEM!! It is full of witty banter, great feels and just priceless quips that had me laughing while reading and the sexual tension between Jamie and Dex had my kindle steaming up. Emma Hart knows how to write a story that will keep your interest along with making the characters relatable and likeable.Jamie has spent her whole life surrounded by cars and their parts (i.e. engines) so for her she found it was easy to become a mechanic like her dad since she grew up around those items as a kid—she literally grew up in a garage as a small child and has the touch to fix anything. She knows about anything about the cars and the people in her little town. Thing is, her family have hit pretty rough times which has made her dad close down his business which has caused Jaime some money issues because she worked for him. She cannot get a job elsewhere, not because she isn’t qualified but because she is a woman. When Jamie gets news that her dad’s old garage has been re-opened and looking to employ a mechanic, she immediately jumps at the chance to work at her old stomping grounds but she wasn’t ready for the new owner, Dex. They are like oil and water. He had this intensity about him and he is super hawt. Thing is, he too, has the same views about women in the garage and work force as well but Dex completely underestimated Jamie and I mean in many ways, especially about her abilities as a mechanic. She is good at giving as good as what is being given out and she will give it out in spades. Dex comes to realize that he might have made a mistake about Jaime. He agrees to a trial run as Jaime being their new mechanic but it’s the attraction he has to her that bothers him more than him hiring her as the new mechanic. Jaime is happy to have a job and also feels the attraction so she fights it. These two dance around their feelings and use witty banter to mask their feelings. How long can that occur before the big BOOM will happen? Can Jaime and Dex continue on without them finally acknowledging their feelings and when they do, will that bring them closer together or tear them apart..for good? Will Jaime get to stay on at a job she loves or will she end up having to leave a job she loves and move away to finally get to do something she loves? The answers are all there but you need to read this fabulous new read by Emma Hart.My Rating: 4.5 stars *****“I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."Cute 3.5-4 stars This review is really hard for me to write because I love Emma Hart' s books. I one click them every time a new one comes out, but this one fell a little flat to me. Now I'm not saying it wasn't good because it was. It's the same cute, funny, sassy writing that we come to love and expect from Emma. I love how snarky her characters are, that's what makes them so relatable for me because I'm just like that. I love that! Especially with Miss Mechanic Jamie is the ultimate sassy lady. I can easily see myself as her because I myself have a ton of sass and am super sarcastic. I also love Dex because he is just like Jamie sassy, funny, and super sarcastic. Again a completely relatable character, he reminds me of my husband in that way. Their relationship is like ours, we bicker constantly and are super sarcastic towards each other. I loved it.What I didn't love was that there was so much back and forth bickering and arguing that you kinda loses a little of the story. When I say all the do is argue I mean that's seriously all they do! I would have loved to have seen them acknowledg their feelings for each other sooner, and see more of their softer sides. I felt like this book was just one really long argument. My other problem with this book was that it needed to be edited better, there was a ton of mistakes. Not just a few here and there but a lot.Overall the book was cute and I will continue to read Emma's books but this one isn't my favorite. I'm gonna give it 3.5-4 stars.

Images taken by some of the world’s premier photographers are accompanied by practical travel information for visitors to each place, including dining and lodging options."—The Wall Street Journal"The world's most desirable holiday destinations—in pictures."—Theguardian.com DAN WESTERGREN took up photography after being taught how to develop film by an indulgent science teacher in the eighth grade. That early experience instilled in him a reverence for the classic, timeless feel of a wonderful photograph, a reverence that he continues to feel even with his job as Director of Photography for National Geographic Travel. In addition to photo editing for National Geographic Traveler magazine andNatgeo.com/travel he has photographed a variety of stories, including expeditions up Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa and Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn in the European Alps. Westergren also went on and photographed an expedition to ski the last degree to the North Pole. Over the years, he's shot some of the world's most intriguing people, places and experiences.

Great gift for the travel lover Gorgeous big book. Gave it to my husband for Christmas. He loves to travel and he loved the book. Very diverse locations, gorgeous pictures and a little story to go with. Some stories go on for a couple pages, many of them a little blurb. A little history, a little geography and one paragraph called "see it like a local" that husband likes very much.including the best way to get there and when to go I bought this as a Christmas gift -- and had to read it myself before giving it away. This is a lovely coffee-table book filled with gorgeous photos. Every two pages has photos and a short write-up about the location, including the best way to get there and when to go. Very readable and entertaining. It will give you the travel bug. I gave it to my sister and she loves it too.Beautiful pictures, lovely book and some good travel tips This is a beautiful book with amazing pictures. I bought it as a gift for someone who likes to travel and they loved it. I expected the destinations to be all exotic and quite frankly out of an average traveler's price range, however there was a healthy balance between far away, exotic places and more closer (to North America at least) and affordable options. There are not a lot of destinations in the southern hemisphere and Cape Town did not make the cut (which I thought would definitely be on the list). Overall the photographs are National Geographic standard which means it makes a beautiful book to look at even if you never travel to these destinations. I would definitely recommend this book and don't hide it in a bookcase once you have bought it.

Looking to earn some easy cash, Jessica Farris agrees to be a test subject in a psychological study about ethics and morality. But as the study moves from the exam room to the real world, the line between what is real and what is one of Dr. Shields’s experiments blurs.

Dr. Shields seems to know what Jess is thinking… and what she’s hiding.

Jessica’s behavior will not only be monitored, but manipulated.

Caught in a web of attraction, deceit and jealousy, Jess quickly learns that some obsessions can be deadly.

From the authors of the blockbuster bestseller The Wife Between Us, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, An Anonymous Girl will keep you riveted through the last shocking twist.

Creepy. Haunting. Can I have more? I am trying to come up with three words that will best describe this book. If I really had to choose, it would be creepy, haunting, and disturbing.Creepy. This whole book gave me the creeps. From the morality test, to Dr. Shields, to the plot. It all gave off a creepy vibe. More than once during this book, my skin crawled. I felt like I, too, was being tested. Am I sane? Am I moral? How far would I go to find the truth?Haunting. Again, Dr. Shields. That woman is one messed up woman. I wasn't sure if she was genius or evil. I am still not so sure. Her character definitely would give any person nightmares if she existed in real life.Disturbing. You guessed it. Dr. Shields. Are you seeing a trend? I just can't get over her. Her willingness to go as far as she does is highly disturbing. If I am honest, the whole book is disturbing. I am sure there are individuals like her in the world, and that scares the crap out of me.This book is twisted, have no doubts. Did it shock me? Not really. However, that is not to say it won't shock many. I read so many of these kinds of books, it seems to be hard to shock me these days. I will say, the first half of the book is slow. I almost gave up. But I kept it moving, and it really picked up in the second half. It was worth it.Now after reading two books by this new writing duo, I am looking forward to what they will bring us next. Most boring book ever!! I loved the other book by this author, it was one of my favorites, but this one...it was so boring, I had to force myself to finish it. I feel like nothing happened! The psychiatrist (psychologist?) Dr. Fields in the book was a very one dimensional shallow character (the writing was stilted and it was almost like she was a robot). The other narrator, Jessica wasn't likable at all (another one dimensional character). The idea was good (a stalker type doctor) but she wasn't even as crazy as she could have been. Honestly, I can't even remember what the BIG twist was at the end. Very boring.Edge-of-your-seat Psychological Suspense How Would YOU Respond if Your Ethics Were Questioned? Here’s a Frightening Example…It is nearly impossible to describe this book without revealing essential pieces of the plot, key elements that will be much more exciting if you are allowed to discover them on your own. It will be far easier to explain, if you are a lover of suspense/thriller talfes, why you must read this book. The story is told in first person present. I am not normally a fan of this POV and tense, but in this story, the choices work. What makes it special is that there are two narrators, swapping back and forth, chapter to chapter. Even though the POV puts us inside each narrator’s head, everything is not always revealed to the reader. Instead, it is portioned out in slow measure, driving the suspense higher as you progress further into the book. Even right up to the end, the true motives of all the characters are not fully revealed, which enables the authors to weave feelings of danger throughout the pages, leaving us to wonder if the heroine will survive until the end.The writing is impeccable, and there are no plot holes that could have damaged the integrity of the story. Even with all her faults, the main protagonist Jessica is likeable, and I soon found myself identifying with her questions and fears. Once I began reading it was hard to stop, and most of the book was completed in one sitting.Bottom line: This is a tight, psychological suspense story that will periodically have you on the edge of your seat. The scariness is primarily generated by the fears (perceived and real) in Jessica’s mind, aided by the information from the second narrator. The story also examines morality and ethics, as “What would you do if…” questions quickly merge with a frightening reality. Can’t recommend this one enough. Five stars.

Title: The Trial of Lizzie Borden Pdf
Author: Cara Robertson
Published Date: 2019-03-12
Page: 400

"With deft storytelling and convincing scholarship, Cara Robertson does the seemingly impossible by bringing new life to perhaps our oldest true-crime saga: the Gilded Age case of Lizzie Borden. By giving us Fall River, Massachusetts, in full and in context, as well as the panoply of characters who made the trial so sensational, Robertson has written that rarest of things: a page-turner with a point." —Jon Meacham, author of The Soul of America“A fascinating social history.” —Mary Higgins Clark, bestselling author of I’ve Got My Eyes on You“The Trial of Lizzie Borden is a taut, understated masterpiece: the rare history book that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Cara Robertson scours the Trial of the (Nineteenth) Century with the perseverance of a scholar, the gimlet eye of a detective, and the elegance of a novelist. As she depicts the Borden murders and the young lady accused of committing them, Robertson reveals the seething class, ethnic, and gendered tensions that roiled the glittering surface of the Gilded Age.” —Jane Kamensky, author of A Revolution in Color and the Jonathan Trumball Professor of American History at Harvard University"Robertson presents the story with the thoroughness one expects from an attorney...Fans of crime novels will love it." —Kirkus Review"A fast-paced, page-turning read." —Booklist, starred review"You won’t be disappointed." —Hello Giggles"Remarkable." —Bustle"A fascinating and definitive account of the notorious trial of Lizzie Borden, the woman accused of the brutal murder of her father and her stepmother. Beautifully written and rich in detail, The Trial of Lizzie Borden sheds new light not only on the trial itself, but also on the setting, the period, and, in a sense, on the American soul at the end of the nineteenth century. —Lawrence M. Friedman, Marion Rice Kirkwood Professor of Law, Stanford University  “The definitive account to date of one of America’s most notorious and enduring murder mysteries…a superior, page-turning true crime narrative.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review) Cara Robertson is a lawyer whose writing has appeared in The Boston Globe, the Raleigh News and Observer, and the Yale Journal of Law and the Humanities. She was educated at Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford Law School. A former Supreme Court law clerk, she served as a legal adviser to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia at The Hague and a Visiting Scholar at Stanford Law School. Her scholarship has been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Humanities Center of which she is a Trustee. She first started researching the Lizzie Borden story as a senior at Harvard, and published her first paper on the trial in the Yale Journal of Law and the Humanities in 1997. The Trial of Lizzie Borden is her first book.

The remarkable new account of an essential piece of American mythology—the trial of Lizzie Borden—based on twenty years of research and recently unearthed evidence.

The Trial of Lizzie Borden tells the true story of one of the most sensational murder trials in American history. When Andrew and Abby Borden were brutally hacked to death in Fall River, Massachusetts, in August 1892, the arrest of the couple’s younger daughter Lizzie turned the case into international news and her trial into a spectacle unparalleled in American history. Reporters flocked to the scene. Well-known columnists took up conspicuous seats in the courtroom. The defendant was relentlessly scrutinized for signs of guilt or innocence. Everyone—rich and poor, suffragists and social conservatives, legal scholars and laypeople—had an opinion about Lizzie Borden’s guilt or innocence. Was she a cold-blooded murderess or an unjustly persecuted lady? Did she or didn’t she?

The popular fascination with the Borden murders and its central enigmatic character has endured for more than one hundred years. Immortalized in rhyme, told and retold in every conceivable genre, the murders have secured a place in the American pantheon of mythic horror, but one typically wrenched from its historical moment. In contrast, Cara Robertson explores the stories Lizzie Borden’s culture wanted and expected to hear and how those stories influenced the debate inside and outside of the courtroom. Based on transcripts of the Borden legal proceedings, contemporary newspaper accounts, unpublished local accounts, and recently unearthed letters from Lizzie herself, The Trial of Lizzie Borden offers a window onto America in the Gilded Age, showcasing its most deeply held convictions and its most troubling social anxieties.
