A Coffee Table Book Someone Might Actually Read NFL100 is a good choice for your coffee table. Sure, you can impress guests with a book showing works of Michelangelo but how many people are actually going to pick it up? Gorgeous photographs and well-written snippets focusing on the players who’ve made football America’s most popular sport make for an engaging read.I read it cover to cover but it really can be picked up on any page and enjoyed. There is sort of a hero worship mentality around players who are made to seem larger than life, but this is a publication to celebrate the NFL’s hundred year anniversary. Cutting remarks about the game’s greats would hardly be appropriate.Similarly, there is no discussion of head-injuries or CTE. But if you expect the kind of words used at a birthday party to praise the honoree then you won’t be disappointed in this narrative of the NFL’s increasing presence at the center of American culture.Tasteful, uncontroversial and focused on the players who have made the game great. A light work but a worthwhile addition to all sports fans’ libraries.Great coffee table with some notable omissions If you simplify the review - this is an easy 5-star book and truly does an excellent job covering the first 100 years of the NFL.Condensing 100 years into 286 pages of content is no easy task and nearly impossible to cover all the bases.At its essence - this coffee table has an excellent intro by Peyton Manning and Michael MacCambridge does an excellent job arranging stories from excerpts from books, magazines, newspapers, and interviews of men who have shaped the NFL.For NFL history buffs - you will notice work from Peter King, Frank DeFord, Myron Cope, Edwin Pope, and Roy Blount Jr. amongst others.Design wise - the arrangement of photos, the use of imagery with quotes lead to an elegant design of simplicity at its finest. Very clean and appealing to the eyes. By far it’s strength.I knocked it to a 4 based on some glaring omissions.With a compilation like this missing essays and profiles on The Fearsome Foursome, Ronnie Lott, Reggie White, Aaron Donald, Saquon Barkley was disappointing especially when you see profiles of Eli Manning, Matt Ryan, Patrick Mahomes, and Terrell Suggs.Overall though it isn’t enough to make less than a 4 out of 5.This would be a great addition to any library, gift for any football fan in your life.Excellent book! Excellent book about the history of the NFL!

Great series I love this series. It introduces kids to things slowly, but my second grader has been picking up on this really quickly. She has been playing for about a year. She has only had consistent lessons for a few months now. Prior to this, she had some lessons for about two months and then I just worked her through the first book myself after we moved until I could get her a new teacher. I don’t know that I would be able to do it myself at this level, because although I have a music background, I do not have a background in piano, but she is grasping it with her piano instructor!Great piano series Received as described. Unexpected I loved the Sookie, Aurora, Lily and Midnight series. I own them all on paper and duplicates on my Kindle. I also have two stand alone books. That said, my excitement when I saw this first in a new series was such I bought the book on Kindle. I read it last night. The kill rate is immense and somewhat overdone. I wish more words had been used to establish the background of influenza, government breakdown, invasion and breakup of the country. Instead of giving us that first, it is dribbled throughout the book. The killing begins early and often, with asides of magicians, Comanche, rape (attempted and successful) bathing and amazing recovery from being shot. I won't be continuing with this series. I don't think this is her best work.Action Fantasy, plenty of both. Book #1 of a new series. Brisk read. I gave Harris a wide berth after the last few books in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I wasn't satisfied and I moved on to other authors. This is the first book in a new series and it is tightly written with plenty of excitement. Lizbeth is a gun for hire on the margins. Her work involves lots of loss and rubbing shoulders with the magical world. I'd call it a page turner; you could easily read this in a day. Harris does a nice job here with character. I wasn't that much drawn into the Russian plot but I did like the interplay amongst the characters. Lots of guns, quick deaths and a brief rape scene early in the book. This is a violent culture with a barter economy and a lot of social mores.I was pleasantly surprised at how well constructed this book was; my follow up reader (husband) felt the gun content was accurate so nice work with that. My house smells like Hoppe's gun oil right now! For anyone who likes a fast moving adventure with fantasy.Outstanding fantasy/ western/ alternate history / character study You ain't never nohow no way met nobody like Gunnie Rose. And you surely haven't met enough books like this one in your life. Best Charlaine Harris book yet, and I have read 'em and adored 'em all from the start.This one kept me long at lunch, up late nights, and up early mornings. My chores went undone and the yearning to get back to reading was something powerful, something I haven't felt in a number of years. Gunnie Rose is a total winner of a character, a fast-shooting, insightful, unique-voiced woman with standards. I refuse to tell you one iota of the plot, it should surprise you at every turn like it did me!Don't be reading the other reviews, stay away from spoilers, and get to gettin', because you're in for a wild ride. Hang onto your standards, hang onto your hat, fork over your money; you can thank me later. My wish for you: may all your books be this good and may you have an easy death.

Warm fuzzy book I got this book last night and immediately started reading it. It is so heartwarming and gave me the warmest fuzzies the whole time. I am inspired by Mari's weirdness, ability to be uncomfortable and derive meaning from weird/awkward situations. I actually met her at a drawing classed called "turning your pain into art" in DC which is where i really fell in love with her, so when I saw her book was coming out I knew i had to pre-order it immediately!Beautiful Book I got this book today. It’s really well written. You feel like you talk directly to the author. Also, quality of paper is outstanding 😱Funny, honest and delightful I love Mari Andrew's Instagram and I was so excited to preorder her book. It is actually a lot longer and has more pages/ illustrations than I thought it would be, which was such a nice surprise. I have followed her illustration work for a bit but I had no idea that she was such a talented writer too. The essays are so refreshing, and the way she has divided the book up into different topics is really lovely.As someone who is about to graduate college and embark on a first job/live in a new city, I have found Mari's perspective so delightful and helpful. I've also shared her work with other friends my age and everyone who I've shown the book to has said that they want a copy of their own. This would make an excellent gift for people who are still figuring out things in their 20s or even a long distance best friend.
